The ductwork symptoms we hear most
- One bedroom is always ten degrees hotter than the rest of the house Disconnected or crushed branch run, or a duct starved by leaks upstream
- The AC runs all day and never satisfies the thermostat Supply air lost into the attic through open joints and torn flex duct
- Weak air out of the vents even with a clean filter Collapsed flex, kinked runs or a failed plenum connection
- Dust settles again a day after we clean Leaky return ducts pulling attic and crawlspace air into the system
- The house feels sticky even when the air conditioning is cold Humid outside air drawn in through return leaks, or duct insulation gone
Search for it as ductwork repair or air duct repair and you land in the same place: one visit, one written quote.
Safe things to check first
Worth a look before you call — sometimes it saves you the visit.
- 1: Confirm the thermostat is set to cool or heat and try fresh batteries before assuming a duct problem.
- 2Change the air filter, since a loaded filter mimics the weak airflow that leaks cause.
- 3Walk the house and confirm every supply and return vent is open and not blocked by furniture or rugs.
- 4Check the breaker panel for a tripped breaker on the indoor or outdoor equipment, and clear leaves and grass clippings from around the outdoor unit.

How do you find a duct leak?
We start with what you can feel: register temperatures, airflow at each vent and the rooms that never come around. Then we inspect accessible runs, joints and plenum connections in the attic or crawlspace and mark the sections that are actually losing air.
Is duct sealing enough, or do I need replacement?
It depends on the condition of the duct itself. Sound metal or intact flex with open joints seals well. Flex that is torn, wet, compressed or missing insulation should be replaced, because sealing a failed duct just hides the problem for a season.
Why are attic ducts such a common problem here?
Attics in our region get brutally hot, and the insulation on duct runs takes the brunt of it year after year. Add sagging support straps, foot traffic during roof or wiring work, and joints that were only taped, and leaks show up over time.
Will fixing ductwork help my humidity problem?
Often, yes. Leaky return ducts pull humid attic or crawlspace air straight into the system, so the equipment fights moisture it should never see. Sealing returns and repairing the cabinet connections usually makes the house feel drier at the same thermostat setting.
Can bad ducts damage the equipment?
They can shorten its life. Restricted or leaking ducts change the airflow the system was designed around, which stresses the blower and the coil and leads to more air conditioning repair and heating repair calls than the equipment age would suggest.
Do you have to tear into my ceilings?
Usually not. Most homes we work in have duct runs reachable from the attic or crawlspace, so repairs happen up there. If a run is buried in a chase or slab, we tell you before anything is opened and walk through the options with you.
How it works
- Step 1
Tell us the symptom
Call or fill out the quote form and describe what the system is doing. Warm air, short cycling, water on the floor, a smell, a noise. That detail tells us what parts to load on the truck.
- Step 2
We diagnose on site
A technician checks the thermostat, the electrical side, airflow through the filter and coil, refrigerant behaviour and the ductwork. You hear what we found in plain language before anything gets replaced or repaired.
- Step 3
You approve the fix
We explain the repair, what it costs and what happens if you wait a season. Nothing gets done without your go-ahead, and we tell you honestly when a repair no longer makes sense.

Why homeowners call us
- We know humid-climate systemsAcross the region the real enemy is moisture. Systems here run long hours pulling water out of the air, and that shows up as frozen coils, clogged drains and mildew smells. We diagnose for humidity, not just temperature.
- Mixed gas and heat pump workPlenty of homes we visit run a heat pump with gas backup, and the two have to hand off cleanly. We troubleshoot both sides, including defrost boards, reversing valves, ignitors and heat exchanger concerns.
- Attic ductwork is our daily breadMid-century homes often have ducts running through attics that hit brutal temperatures. Crushed runs, disconnected boots and leaking joints steal cooling before it reaches the room. We find them instead of blaming the equipment.
- Repair before replaceA capacitor, a contactor, a blower motor or a clogged drain line fixes a lot of the calls we take. We would rather fix what you have and tell you plainly when the numbers stop working.

- Straight answersNot worth fixing? We say that out loud, and often it saves you the visit fee.
