High-Efficiency Upgrade

A high-efficiency furnace upgrade means we replace an older gas furnace with a modern condensing unit, and we do that work for homeowners across Arkansas, Louisiana, Missouri, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Tennessee and Texas. Homeowners usually ask about it when the old furnace is short cycling, the gas bill keeps climbing, or a repair estimate starts to rival replacement. This job involves more than swapping a cabinet, because condensing furnaces need new venting and a condensate drain. Call us and we will walk the house, measure the load, and tell you what the change actually requires.

What the upgrade job involves

We start by sizing the furnace to your house rather than matching the old nameplate. Then we pull the existing unit, adapt the plenum and return, and run new PVC intake and exhaust piping to an exterior wall, since a condensing furnace no longer uses the old masonry chimney. Condensate needs a drain and often a small pump. Gas piping and electrical connections are reworked to suit the new unit, and we commission the system before we leave. Most changeouts finish in a day, though venting routes in older homes can add time.a he-efficiency upgrade change vary by house.

What we check and install

Before quoting, we look at duct sizing and static pressure, because a high-efficiency furnace pushed through undersized returns will never perform. We check attic duct runs for crushed sections and leaking joints, since a lot of homes in the region have ductwork sitting in brutal summer heat. We also confirm the thermostat can control staged or variable heating, verify combustion air availability, and inspect the flue path we are abandoning. Installation covers the furnace, venting, drain, filter cabinet, and any duct corrections needed for the new blower.

How we decide it is the right call

We compare the cost and life expectancy of your current furnace against the upgrade. If the heat exchanger is cracked, the unit is past twenty years, or repairs keep repeating, replacement usually makes sense. If the furnace is sound and the real problem is leaky ducts or a failed control board, we say so and do the heating repair instead. Fuel type matters too, and in warmer parts of the region a heat pump paired with gas backup can be the better answer. We give you both options in writing. If you ever smell gas, leave the building first, then call 911 or your gas utility, then call us.

High-Efficiency Upgrade — quick answers

Why does a high-efficiency furnace need new venting?

Condensing furnaces cool the exhaust so far that it will not rise through a masonry chimney and it turns acidic. We run sealed PVC intake and exhaust piping to an exterior wall instead, which is part of every upgrade.

Will my existing ducts work with a new furnace?

Sometimes, sometimes not. We measure static pressure and check return sizing first. Undersized or leaking attic ductwork limits any new furnace, so we include duct corrections in the quote when the numbers call for it.

Do I need a new thermostat with the upgrade?

Often yes. Staged and variable-speed furnaces need a thermostat that can call for more than one heat stage. We confirm compatibility during the walkthrough and include the right control in the proposal.

How it works

  1. Step 1

    Tell us the symptom

Call or fill out the quote form and describe what the system is doing. Warm air, short cycling, water on the floor, a smell, a noise. That detail tells us what parts to load on the truck.

  2. Step 2

    We diagnose on site

A technician checks the thermostat, the electrical side, airflow through the filter and coil, refrigerant behaviour and the ductwork. You hear what we found in plain language before anything gets replaced or repaired.

  3. Step 3

    You approve the fix

We explain the repair, what it costs and what happens if you wait a season. Nothing gets done without your go-ahead, and we tell you honestly when a repair no longer makes sense.

Why homeowners call us

  • We know humid-climate systemsAcross the region the real enemy is moisture. Systems here run long hours pulling water out of the air, and that shows up as frozen coils, clogged drains and mildew smells. We diagnose for humidity, not just temperature.
  • Mixed gas and heat pump workPlenty of homes we visit run a heat pump with gas backup, and the two have to hand off cleanly. We troubleshoot both sides, including defrost boards, reversing valves, ignitors and heat exchanger concerns.
  • Attic ductwork is our daily breadMid-century homes often have ducts running through attics that hit brutal temperatures. Crushed runs, disconnected boots and leaking joints steal cooling before it reaches the room. We find them instead of blaming the equipment.
  • Repair before replaceA capacitor, a contactor, a blower motor or a clogged drain line fixes a lot of the calls we take. We would rather fix what you have and tell you plainly when the numbers stop working.
