UV Lights & Ventilation

We install and service UV lights and fresh-air ventilation for homes across Arkansas, Louisiana, Missouri, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Tennessee and Texas. UV lamps mount inside the air handler to keep mold and biological growth off the coil and drain pan. Ventilation brings measured outdoor air into a tight house so stale air and odors have somewhere to go. If your system smells musty every time it cycles on, or the house feels stuffy with the windows shut, call us and we will look at the whole air path.

What the job involves

A UV install starts at the air handler. We open the cabinet, look at the coil and drain pan, and find a mounting spot where the lamp actually shines on the wet surface where growth starts. Power gets pulled from the equipment, the lamp is secured, and we verify the door interlock so the light is off when the cabinet is open. Ventilation work is different. That means running a duct to bring outdoor air in on a control, usually tied into the return, so the house breathes without swinging the humidity.

What we check or install

Before anything gets mounted, we check the coil for biological growth, the drain pan for standing water, and the filter for bypass around the edges. A dirty coil with a slow drain is the real problem in a lot of humid-climate homes, and a lamp alone will not fix it. We also look at return leaks in attic ductwork, since hot attic air pulled into the return carries dust and moisture with it. Then we size the lamp to your coil and set ventilation airflow to match the house.

How we decide it is the right call

UV lights make sense when there is visible growth on the coil, recurring musty odors at startup, or a drain pan that keeps developing slime through a long cooling season. They do not do much for dust, pollen or smoke, and we will tell you that instead of selling you a lamp. Ventilation is the right call when a house is tight, humidity feels heavy, or indoor air stays stale. Sometimes the honest answer is a better filter and a duct repair first. We start there.

UV Lights & Ventilation — quick answers

Will a UV light clean the air in my whole house?

A coil-mounted UV lamp treats the wet surfaces inside your equipment, not the air in every room. It cuts musty odors and keeps growth off the coil. For dust and pollen, filtration and duct sealing do more.

How often does a UV lamp need replacing?

Most lamps lose output well before they burn out, so they get changed on a schedule rather than when they go dark. We check output and replacement dates during regular service and let you know when yours is due.

Does adding ventilation make my house more humid?

It can if it is not controlled. That is why we set airflow to the house and tie ventilation into system runtime, so outdoor air comes in while your equipment is actively removing moisture from it.

How it works

  1. Step 1

    Tell us the symptom

Call or fill out the quote form and describe what the system is doing. Warm air, short cycling, water on the floor, a smell, a noise. That detail tells us what parts to load on the truck.

  2. Step 2

    We diagnose on site

A technician checks the thermostat, the electrical side, airflow through the filter and coil, refrigerant behaviour and the ductwork. You hear what we found in plain language before anything gets replaced or repaired.

  3. Step 3

    You approve the fix

We explain the repair, what it costs and what happens if you wait a season. Nothing gets done without your go-ahead, and we tell you honestly when a repair no longer makes sense.

Why homeowners call us

  • We know humid-climate systemsAcross the region the real enemy is moisture. Systems here run long hours pulling water out of the air, and that shows up as frozen coils, clogged drains and mildew smells. We diagnose for humidity, not just temperature.
  • Mixed gas and heat pump workPlenty of homes we visit run a heat pump with gas backup, and the two have to hand off cleanly. We troubleshoot both sides, including defrost boards, reversing valves, ignitors and heat exchanger concerns.
  • Attic ductwork is our daily breadMid-century homes often have ducts running through attics that hit brutal temperatures. Crushed runs, disconnected boots and leaking joints steal cooling before it reaches the room. We find them instead of blaming the equipment.
  • Repair before replaceA capacitor, a contactor, a blower motor or a clogged drain line fixes a lot of the calls we take. We would rather fix what you have and tell you plainly when the numbers stop working.
