Whether you call it duct sealing or air duct repair, the work is identical and so is the quote you approve first.
What the job involves
We start in the attic or crawl space and follow the duct run from the air handler out to the last register. Loose joints get mechanically fastened, then sealed with mastic or a rated foil tape. Boots where ducts meet ceilings and floors get sealed to the drywall, since that is a common leak point in older homes across the region. Damaged flex is replaced rather than patched. Once the leaks are closed, we check airflow at the registers again so you can feel the difference.
What we check and what we install
We look at plenum connections, takeoffs, boot seals, damaged insulation and crushed or kinked flex duct. We check static pressure and register airflow to see where the system is losing air, and we look at the return side too, because a leaky return in a hot attic pulls in attic air and wrecks your humidity control. Materials are mastic, foil tape, new collars and clamps, and replacement duct where the old run is beyond sealing. Insulation gets restored where we open it up.
How we decide sealing is the right call
Sealing makes sense when the duct layout is sound and the leaks are at joints and boots. If flex is torn along its length, sagging into puddles, or sized too small for the room it serves, sealing alone will not fix the comfort problem and we will say so. We also weigh the age of the system, whether rooms have always been uneven, and what the airflow readings show. You get a straight explanation of what sealing will change and what it will not.

How do I know my ducts are leaking?
Common signs are rooms that never reach the thermostat setting, long run times, dusty registers, and humidity that stays high in summer. We confirm it by checking airflow and static pressure rather than guessing.
Can duct tape be used for duct sealing?
Standard cloth duct tape dries out and lets go, especially in a hot attic. We use mastic and rated foil tape, plus mechanical fasteners, so the joint stays closed for years.
Will sealing my ducts help with humidity?
Often yes. Leaky returns in attics and crawl spaces pull in damp outside air, which loads your system with moisture. Closing those leaks lets the AC dehumidify the air inside your home instead.
How it works
- Step 1
Tell us the symptom
Call or fill out the quote form and describe what the system is doing. Warm air, short cycling, water on the floor, a smell, a noise. That detail tells us what parts to load on the truck.
- Step 2
We diagnose on site
A technician checks the thermostat, the electrical side, airflow through the filter and coil, refrigerant behaviour and the ductwork. You hear what we found in plain language before anything gets replaced or repaired.
- Step 3
You approve the fix
We explain the repair, what it costs and what happens if you wait a season. Nothing gets done without your go-ahead, and we tell you honestly when a repair no longer makes sense.

Why homeowners call us
- We know humid-climate systemsAcross the region the real enemy is moisture. Systems here run long hours pulling water out of the air, and that shows up as frozen coils, clogged drains and mildew smells. We diagnose for humidity, not just temperature.
- Mixed gas and heat pump workPlenty of homes we visit run a heat pump with gas backup, and the two have to hand off cleanly. We troubleshoot both sides, including defrost boards, reversing valves, ignitors and heat exchanger concerns.
- Attic ductwork is our daily breadMid-century homes often have ducts running through attics that hit brutal temperatures. Crushed runs, disconnected boots and leaking joints steal cooling before it reaches the room. We find them instead of blaming the equipment.
- Repair before replaceA capacitor, a contactor, a blower motor or a clogged drain line fixes a lot of the calls we take. We would rather fix what you have and tell you plainly when the numbers stop working.
