Questions Texas homeowners ask

How fast can you get to my house in Texas?

It depends on your city and the day's call volume, so the honest answer is that we tell you a window when you call rather than promising a number here. No-cooling calls in August and no-heat calls during a freeze get moved up. When you book, let us know if anyone in the home is elderly, very young or has a health condition that heat or cold makes worse, because that changes how we sort the day.

My AC runs all day and the house still feels sticky. Is that a repair?

Usually yes, and it is worth a look. Humidity that will not come down often means the system is short cycling, low on refrigerant, or oversized so it cools the air fast without ever pulling moisture out of it. Dirty coils and undersized or leaky ducts in a hot attic do the same thing. We measure temperature split and airflow before we suggest anything, so you are not paying for a guess.

Do I need a heat pump or a gas furnace in Texas?

Both work here, and the right answer depends on where you are in the state and what fuel you already have. Heat pumps handle mild winters well and give you cooling from the same equipment. Gas furnaces hold up better through the deep freezes that reach the northern half of the state. Plenty of homes run a dual fuel setup that switches between the two. We will walk your house, look at your ductwork and tell you what fits.

What should I do before the technician arrives?

A few quick things help. Check that the thermostat is set to cool or heat and that the batteries are good, look at your breaker panel for a tripped breaker, put in a clean filter if yours is grey, clear leaves and grass clippings away from the outdoor unit, and make sure supply vents are open. Then clear a path to the indoor unit and the outdoor unit and have any past service paperwork handy if you kept it.

What if I smell gas?

Get everyone out of the house first. Do not flip switches, do not use the thermostat and do not light anything. Once you are outside and away from the building, call 911 or your gas utility and let them shut it off and clear the property. Same goes if a carbon monoxide alarm sounds. After the utility says the house is safe, call us and we will inspect the furnace, the venting and the connections.

How it works

  1. Step 1

    Tell us the symptom

Call or fill out the quote form and describe what the system is doing. Warm air, short cycling, water on the floor, a smell, a noise. That detail tells us what parts to load on the truck.

  2. Step 2

    We diagnose on site

A technician checks the thermostat, the electrical side, airflow through the filter and coil, refrigerant behaviour and the ductwork. You hear what we found in plain language before anything gets replaced or repaired.

  3. Step 3

    You approve the fix

We explain the repair, what it costs and what happens if you wait a season. Nothing gets done without your go-ahead, and we tell you honestly when a repair no longer makes sense.

Why homeowners call us

  • We know humid-climate systemsAcross the region the real enemy is moisture. Systems here run long hours pulling water out of the air, and that shows up as frozen coils, clogged drains and mildew smells. We diagnose for humidity, not just temperature.
  • Mixed gas and heat pump workPlenty of homes we visit run a heat pump with gas backup, and the two have to hand off cleanly. We troubleshoot both sides, including defrost boards, reversing valves, ignitors and heat exchanger concerns.
  • Attic ductwork is our daily breadMid-century homes often have ducts running through attics that hit brutal temperatures. Crushed runs, disconnected boots and leaking joints steal cooling before it reaches the room. We find them instead of blaming the equipment.
  • Repair before replaceA capacitor, a contactor, a blower motor or a clogged drain line fixes a lot of the calls we take. We would rather fix what you have and tell you plainly when the numbers stop working.
  • All major brands, gas & electricFrom Carrier and Trane to Lennox, Goodman, Rheem and Bryant, serviced independently.
  • Straight answersNot worth fixing? We say that out loud, and often it saves you the visit fee.
